Another Milestone for Rural Development and Climate Action in Fango Village, Nigeria

We proudly handed over the Fango Village Solar-Powered Water and Charging Station Project in Itas Gadau LGA of Bauchi State, Nigeria. What makes this achievement particularly meaningful is not only the infrastructure delivered, but the journey required to reach this remote community.

Working in rural Africa is never easy. Some communities can only be reached after hours of travel on difficult roads, crossing rivers, and navigating areas where basic infrastructure is almost non-existent. Yet these are often the communities most in need of development support.

Through this project, Centre for Renewable Energy and Action on Climate Change CREACC-NG successfully installed a 4.4kWp solar energy system, established solar-powered charging services, and constructed solar-powered shops that will support local livelihoods and provide sustainable access to energy. The project is expected to contribute to the economic opportunities, and enhanced community wellbeing.

This achievement would not have been possible without the generous support of EKOenergy ecolabel Climate Fund. We sincerely thank EKOenergy for believing in community-led renewable energy solutions and for investing in communities that are often overlooked.

As we celebrate this handover, we also call on more development partners, foundations, corporate organizations, and climate funds to invest in rural communities. Millions of people still lack access to clean energy, safe water, and sustainable livelihoods.
