Delivering Hope, Water, and Opportunity to Rural Communities

Centre for Renewable Energy and Action on Climate Change CREACC-NG is delighted to officially hand over the Magarya Village Solar-Powered Water Project in Itas Gadau LGA, Bauchi State, after successfully completing implementation over the past year.

The reality of development work in remote communities is often unseen. Reaching villages like Magarya requires determination, patience, and commitment. In many cases, project teams must travel long distances through difficult terrain and cross rivers to reach communities that have been underserved for generations.

Thanks to support from the EKOenergy ecolabel Climate Fund, Magarya Village now benefits from a solar-powered water kiosk, eco-friendly sanitation facilities, livestock water systems, handwashing stations, a community water shop, and a tree nursery capable of producing up to 50,000 fruit tree seedlings annually. The project also delivers approximately 40,000 litres of clean water daily, improving health, sanitation, livelihoods, and environmental restoration.

This project demonstrates that renewable energy can be a powerful tool for transforming lives far beyond electricity. It improves public health, supports agriculture, strengthens climate resilience, creates economic opportunities, and restores ecosystems.
