Powering Naija: Transitioning Nigerian SMEs from Petrol to Progress

Today at Centre for Renewable Energy and Action on Climate Change CREACC-NG, we moved beyond talk and into action.

With hashtag#petrol prices volatile and the environmental costs of hashtag#fossilfuel hashtag#generators rising, small businesses in Nigeria are facing an uphill battle. Today, we hosted a hands-on training session: “Reducing Reliance on Petrol Generators: Solar Skills for SME Growth.”

We were proud to host 40 vibrant entrepreneurs to our HQ Training Academy including tailors, hairdressers, and food vendors to bridge the energy gap. The focus wasn’t just on “going green”; it was about “going sustainable” for the bottom line.

Key highlights from today:
✅ Hands-on Skills: Participants learned the basics of solar installation and maintenance.
✅ The Math of Savings: We broke down the cost-comparison between expensive petrol and long-term solar ROI.
✅ Empowering Women: A significant focus on women-led SMEs, ensuring they have the technical skills to manage their own energy future.

A huge thank you to everyone ZE-Gen – Zero Emission Generators and to our dedicated team for making this a success. The transition to clean energy in Nigeria starts with the heartbeat of our economy: our SMEs. Thanks to support from Alphonsus William Foundation, TeraGrid Ltd. and MGK FOUNDATION_n
