Strengthening Strategic Partnerships for Nigeria’s Coastal and Maritime Resilience

As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration around coastal resilience, marine resources, hydrography and environmental sustainability, the Ecological Project Office (EPO) under Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), National Hydrographic Agency (Nigeria), and Centre for Renewable Energy and Action on Climate Change CREACC-NG undertook a strategic engagement at the Headquarters of the Western Naval Command, Apapa, Lagos last week.

The delegation including Permanent Secretery, EPO, Dr Aeshetu Gogo Ndayako, Hydrographer of the Federation, Rear Admiral OO. Fadahunsi, our Advisory Council Member and Executive Director Dr IMAMUDDEEN TALBA, Dr Usman Muhammad (Mareri), PhD and other team members paid a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, as part of efforts to deepen cooperation among key institutions working across Nigeria’s maritime and coastal environment.

The engagement provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of stronger coordination between environmental, hydrographic and maritime institutions, particularly as Nigeria faces increasing challenges associated with #coastalflooding, #erosion, #climatechange, #marineecosystem degradation and the sustainable management of #coastalresources.

As CREACC-NG, we believe that effective climate and environmental action requires strong institutional partnerships, reliable scientific data and coordinated interventions.

Our collaboration with EPO and NHA continues to demonstrate the importance of bringing together government institutions, technical experts and strategic partners to develop practical solutions for Nigeria’s coastal and marine environment.

We appreciate the Western Naval Command for receiving the delegation and for the continued importance placed on cooperation in safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime environment.
